A FESTIVAL OF INDIAN VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS IN EGYPT
India and Egypt, natural allies with colourful cultural legacies, with affinities towards the performing and visual arts, cuisine and objets d’art, have come together in wonderful artistic partnerships throughout the entire festival. It is culture which weaves together bilateral relationships in the real sense of the terms – no dialogue is more effective and memorable that that which is based on the matrix of a country’s heritage, an integral part of its identity. And it is dialogue such as these, which form the building blocks for enduring future relationships. The Embassy of India in Egypt and Teamwork Arts presents ‘India by the Nile’ – a celebration of the essence of India through classical music, dance, theatre, visual art, film, food and sports in a medium, which perfectly amalgamates the contemporary with the classic. Since its inception in 2013, the programme of the festival has always been rich and eclectic with a wide canvas spanning street art, photography, folk music, yoga, craft, and empowerment of women, all of which find their rightful place. Considered to be the largest foreign festival in Egypt, India by the Nile has had the privilege of presenting renowned artistes such as Amitabh Bachhan, Shubha Mudgal, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Dr L. Subramaniam, Aditi Mangaldas amongst many others.
